Wound; Loss of skin integrity or disappearing existing physiological aspects of structures that consist of skin or/and mucosa temporary or permanently with different reasons including trauma, surgery or disease is called 'wound'.

Wound Types (According to the reason);

Acute Wounds; Those wounds heal in an expected period (6-8 weeks max.), their impact is transient and usually healing blocking factors are limited and healing is continuous. For example; laceration (cuts), abrasion (scrape), perforation like wounds, burns, surgical incisions..

Chronic Wounds; Those wounds' healing takes more than 6-8 weeks or it doesn't demonstrate any healing signs during the first 4 weeks. Because of etiological reasons like diabetes, exposure to pressure, circulation disorder and infection healing takes more time. Those wounds are recurrent and they don't end with healing. For example; diabetic foot, pressure wound, venous ulcers, arterial ulcers, oncological wounds etc.
